The big-scaled check he is wearing is something not found very often in the fabric books nowadays! Close up, the checks itself has a bit of texture to it - spun with silk. Now available at the Armoury.

This probably wouldn’t pass muster with the people behind Practical Thoughts on Coherent Combinations for Beginners, but some days you just want to do whateverthefuck.

Grey peak label, single button jacket in Tessuti di Sondrio fabric (By Banana Republic, surprisingly), lightweight Brooks Brothers 346 button-down, Incotex Incochino navy trousers, Allen-Edmonds burgundy shell cordovan MacNeils. My trusty Vostok on NATO. Oh, and a fun little Kent Wang silk square.

This jacket probably has enough fusible and crappy haircloth in it to make the entire city of Naples burst into tears. Nevertheless, I love the way it fits, the way it drapes and how I feel when I wear it.

Is it even appropriate to wear a peak lapel, single-button cotton sportcoat with chinos and long-wings? I don’t know, and I don’t care. It was 35 degrees when I walked out of the house, and the high for today is 64. If I lose the jacket because it gets too warm, I’m not going to look like a weirdo, thanks to the other stuff I’m wearing. And I like the jacket, despite its provenance, so eat it.

Here is Apolis doing what they do, making functional utilitarian clothing through correct facilities and taking action in that. I saw this blazer this morning in an email and immediately got up to take a closer look. This piece reminds me a lot of the Engineered Garments Baker jacket… simple, rugged, clean; a piece I would have no problem with wearing everyday on tour. My favorite feature is the 100% cotton twill with environmentally safe functional corozo buttons on the sleeves. They also offer the same jacket in khaki. This item ships March 30, ten days after the first day of Spring, perfect timing.

And its just under $250 US.

If I didn’t feel like I was full to bursting with navy blazers already, this would be at the top of my list
